Below is a selection of frequently asked questions to help you understand how SalvageSparefFinder opperates..

How do I place my bid?

A: You would need to become a fully registered member first in order to place your bid, once you are a member you would then need to call us at least half an hour before the auction ends to place your bid.

What is a proxy bid?

A: A proxy bid is where you place your maximum bid price on the vehicle and it will auto bid for you until it reaches that amount. E.G should you wish to pay up to £2000 for a vehicle we would put this bid in as a proxy bid. Should the person bidding before you only bids £1700, you would win the vehicle for £1710. 310 more than the previous bidder.

What is a bid extension timer?

A: A bid extension timer is simply put in place so customers get the chance to bid higher should they get outbid. Should you place a bid on a vehicle within the last couple of minutes of it will add 1 minute to the auction.

What happens if by bid is unsuccessful?

A: If you are unsuccessful we can either hold the commission should you be wishing to bid on another vehicle in the future, alternatively we can reimburse your commission, which takes 3 -5 working days to appear back on your card. But you must inform us at the time. Otherwise your commission will be automatically held.

What happens if my bid is successful?

A: Should your bid be successful you would receive a call letting you know you have won the vehicle, you would then receive an email from our accounts department with our bank details and instructions of payment.

Vehicles

Can I view the vehicle?

A: Most vehicles are viewable however you would need to call us to confirm this as most of the yards have viewing dates.

Can you arrange delivery?

A: Yes we can arrange a delivery service at your expense. Prices would range between £1.00 - £1.40 per mile.

Can someone collect my vehicle on my behalf?

A: Yes, you can arrange someone else to collect your vehicle however we would need 24 ( office hours) notice and the details of the person collecting the vehicle by email. The person collecting the vehicle would also need to take 2 form of identification. Please note the yards are closed on Saturday and Sundays.

How long after I have paid would the vehicle be ready for collection/delivery?

A: Once the vehicle has been paid for, we would then need to pay the salvage partners who would issue us with a release note. Once we have this we then need to give the yard 24 hours notice.

What is a vehicle identity check?

A: A vehicle identity check ( VIC ) is a check to be carried out on CAT C vehicles by your local VOSA, this is to ensure that the vehicle has not swapped identities.

Do you sell spares?

A: No, we only deal with complete vehicles.

Payment

Does it cost for me to become registered?

A: No, the registration is completely free at the moment.

Why do you charge commission?

A: We charge a commission because all the vehicles on our website do not belong to us, we do not receive any of the funds for the vehicles.
